You Won't Believe This Weird Facial Exercise Gadget from Japan Actually Exists

You might think this is a gag gift, like many other things you see online, but the Facial Pao Fitness is real and available now in Japan. It's basically a device with a round plastic mouthpiece and plastic paddle wings on either side. To start the workout, just hold the device firmly in your mouth and bob your head up and down to swing the paddles. According to its manufacturer, SHLAB, performing this exercise for 30 seconds, twice a day, can significantly tone up facial muscles, making a person look much younger.

According to Oddity Central, "There are supposedly three major benefits of using the Pao - firming up smile lines, firming the facial contour and turning up the corners of the mouth. The SHLAB website claims that the product works on five main facial muscles - the lesser zygomatic, the greater zygomatic, the cheek, the risorius and the orbicularis oris."

Live Crabs, Gold Bars & iPods: 18 Weird Vending Machines

Forget crackers and candy bars – you could be buying live lobsters, bike parts, whole heads of lettuce and even freshly baked baguettes with the push of a button from vending machines across the world. In fact, if you’re willing to blow into a breathalyzer and show your ID to a camera, you can even get a bottle of wine. These 18 vending machines take instant gratification to surprising extremes.

Anger Release: Break a Plate

Few things are more satisfying when you’re feeling livid than smashing a fragile object to smithereens. This vending machine caters to anyone who needs to release some anger, offering your choice of statues, vases, plates and glasses in highly breakable materials – though you won’t get to break it yourself. The satisfaction comes from watching the item fall into the bottom of the machine.

Live Crabs & Lobster

Vending machines aren’t exactly the most humane places for live animals to live, but that doesn’t stop people from offering both lobsters and crabs that you can either take home and kill yourself or have cooked at a restaurant. ‘Lobster Zone’ is actually an arcade game where you have to manipulate a mechanical claw to pluck a live lobster from the bottom of the tank. The slogan is ‘You catch ‘em, we cook ‘em!’ In China, vending machines offer Shanghai Hairy Crabs in a range of sizes for $1.50 to $7.50

Bikes & Bike Parts

The Bike Dispenser will spit out a dorky looking bicycle in exchange for your cash. While it’s just a concept, the idea is that you can either bring the bike back to the original vending machine location when you’re done, or ride it one-way to another machine. The bikes are fitted with RFID chips to keep track of them.  In New York, cyclists can find another bike-related vending machine that’s actually pretty handy: Bikestock offers bike parts, tools and locks as well as food and a quick tire fill-up.

Blue Jeans & Socks

Let’s say you’ve landed at the airport in a strange city after a red-eye flight only to find that the airline lost your luggage. You might be happy to see vending machines filled with blue jeans and socks. The brand ‘Closed Jeans’ has installed vending machines in train stations across Europe. Sock vending machines offer everything from colorful, stylish options to the most basic white athletic socks. The latter can sometimes be found in bowling alleys.

Hot Pizza, Mashed Potatoes & Chicken

If you’ve ever stared at the sad, cold offerings in a vending machine, wishing you could have some hot pizza instead, you might be in luck (if you can actually find one of these.) Pizza vending machines have been common in Asia for a while, and are now popping up in the U.S. thanks to Wonder Pizza USA, which offers steaming nine-inch whole pizzas in two minutes. If you prefer to mainline your refined carbs, hoover up some instant mashed potatoes and gravy at your local 7-Eleven courtesy of Maggi’s gross mashed potato machines. Other hot foods that can be procured disturbingly quickly with the push of a button include french fries, hot dogs, fried chicken and even squid.

Eggs & Fresh Lettuce

Lettuce doesn’t seem like an ideal item for a vending machine, considering its tendency to wilt pretty quickly. But this particular machine takes care of that problem by actually growing the lettuce on sponges under fluorescent lighting. Chef’s Farm, found in Japan, can produce 60 heads of lettuce per day. In rural Japan, where convenience stores are hard to come by, it’s not uncommon to find vending machines offering cartons of eggs.

Fresh Bread in Paris

Need a freshly-baked baguette at three in the morning? If you’re in Paris, you’re in luck (for a number of reasons). A baker decided to take advantage of the August holiday season, when most bakeries close up shop, by offering a 24-hour baguette vending machine filled with partially cooked loaves that are finished off just when you need them. The baker, who lives above his shop, came up with the idea after being repeatedly disturbed by potential customers knocking on his door after hours.

Gold Bars

Isn’t it annoying when you need some gold bars fast, but all the banks are closed? Gold to Go has got you covered with blast-proof, camera-guarded vending machines that will dispense small wafers of gold in exchange for your cash. The prices are updated automatically every two minutes to keep up with constantly fluctuating gold prices. The machines can be found in airports and shopping malls in Abu Dhabi, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Great Britain and a few U.S. locations.

Beer & Wine with a Side of CCTV

Show your ID to a real live person watching you via CCTV from a call center, blow into a breathalyzer to prove you’re not already drunk, and you can get a bottle of wine from a vending machine in Pennsylvania. The kiosks, introduced in response to the state’s archaic liquor laws, can be found in grocery stores. In Japan, some vending machines will pour you a pint of draught beer, while others offer a range of cans. For a promotion, Amstel offered free beer to any customer who could stand completely still in front of a vending machine for three minutes.

iPods & Other Gadgets

Best Buy’s airport kiosks are an increasingly common sight, offering last-minute, travel-oriented gadgets like digital cameras, phone batteries, headphones and pre-paid international cell phones. Better hope you press the right button, because if you need to return something, you’ll have to call an 800 number and wait for a prepaid label to come in the mail. Vending machines offering virtually every iteration of the iPod have also been spotted, and it’s almost guaranteed that they aren’t endorsed by Apple.

7 Bizarre Apple Products That Were Just Too Weird To Exist

You can’t always be at the top your game, and Apple is no exception. As we eagerly await today’s WWDC reveals, it’s fun to remember that for every hit there’s a handful of slightly more questionable ideas that just never quite clicked. Here are the seven of weirdest Apple gadgets that just weren’t good enough to make it to the finish line.

The Macintosh Surface

This prototype (obviously) wasn’t called the “Surface” but “Bashful”, An earlier prototype of the Newton, which did eventually make it to market, Bashful would have come with a keyboard and stylus if it ever made off the drawing board.

A Dual Screen Workstation

Like the Bashful, this dual-screen setup was another idea being kicked around in the early ’80s. Also like the Bashful, it was designed by Hartmut Esslinger, founder of Frogdesign.

An Octagon iPhone

One of the many prototypes unearthed during Apple and Samsung’s epic patent row, this octagonal iPhone could have been the shape of phones-to-come until Apple opted for that oft-imitated “rectangle with rounded corners”.

The MacPhone

Pre-cursor to both the iPhone and the iPad, the Apple Snow White 1 Tablet Mac and the Apple Snow White 3 Macphone (left and right), were in development in ’82 and ’84. But instead of pushing the weird tablet-phones out to market, Apple turned to the Macintosh, and waited a few decades before coming back.

An Angular iPhone 4

Another gem from the Apple vs Samsung lawsuit, this prototype is was labled N90, so chances are it’s an iPhone 4 that never was.

A Wrist Computer

An Apple watch isn’t a new idea; the Time Band dates back to 1991, when it was published in the Japanese magazine Axis. The image was published as a mere concept that then-CEO John Sculley was touting, so chances are the abomination was never actually prototyped.

A Crazy Vertical Monitor

Another Esslinger joint, this setup was entitled “concept 2″ and was intended to represent americana, drawing inspiration from things like Studebaker to the Coke bottle. But perhaps most striking is its wildly vertical screen.

Top 5 Most Weird Biological Anomalies in Humans

There are a number of weird biological anomalies which humans suffer from. Simply defined, these anomalies can be termed as physical disorders or abnormalities. Every year a large number of people suffer from these biological abnormalities. The scientists and researchers have devoted their lives to understanding these variations that take place in human beings. Moreover, as you will read this list of the 5 most weird biological anomalies, you will come to learn that the diseases humans suffer from continue to get more and more weird. In fact, every year, medical science exposes a number of changes in human functioning about which there aren’t enough explanations present. Here is the list.
The Link between Human Behavior and the Sun

The researcher Alexander Chizhevsky is of the view that the solar activity has the power to cause a number of changes on the activities that take place on earth. In his view, each year a number of plane crashes and infestations on earth are caused by the Sun. Moreover, human beings are also influenced by the activity of the Sun. In terms of historical analysis, it has been hypothesized most of the civil wars and revolts took place in times of solar maximum.
The Nasal Cycle

This anomaly can be easily observed in more than 80 % of the people on earth. It involves the change or shift of breathing from one nostril to the next. Both of the nostrils we have function in a manner to provide a constant supply of air, humidification and some warmth to the whole body. A great deal of research is being made now in order to understand why humans come to have the nasal cycle, but still no plausible explanation is there that can account for the 80 % people who experience it.
Anesthesia Awakening

Surely, anesthesia is effective in influencing the consciousness in most of the people. In other words, through its administration most of the people lose consciousness. But there are some who are less susceptible to this effectuation and can remain awake under the action of this dose. These people are able to hear the conversations taking place around them and also experience more pain in comparison to the ones who are entirely unconscious. Yes, there are chances that a person might have remained awake all because the dose had not been given in a heavy quantity, but still there are those who remain awake regardless of the size of the dose administered. This form of awakening is indeed one of the most weird biological anomalies.
Magneto-Ception

It can be described as the sense in the animals to detect any forms of magnetic field in their surroundings. This awareness enables them in getting an idea about their direction and location in relation to other objects. There are also a number of other definitions that are present for the explanation of this special sense in animals. In case of humans, some scientists are of the view that it may be possible. Moreover, some magnetic bones have been traced in the human nose. But whether we are aware of the magnetic fields or not remains a big question.
Sexual Variations and Drives

Now here we have a really bizarre and truly weird behavior in humans. Being humans we do experience sexual drives and desires, but some people are always under the influence of these drives much more than the usual. Science has failed to offer some rational explanations about why people come to develop weird sexual drives and motives. In the domain of psychiatry, this anomaly has been named as Paraphilia. It remains one of the most weird biological anomalies known to man.
